According to fledgling writer/director Steven Ayromlooi, the good folks at Lions Gate absolutely LOVED his "Leprechaun Goes to Spring Break" script idea. Just one note from the suits: "Set it in the hood!" No doubt Steven’s head swam more than yours just did, but to his credit, he didn’t bolt.
His picture shows a great deal of enthusiasm for our pint-sized death dealer and genuine respect for the genre. He also meets the "street cred" mandate without having Warwick Davis RAP again or share even a nanosecond more screen time with ubiquitous CineSchlocker fave Ice T. For his effort, along with a sixth pot of bling-bling, the ever-charming Warwick also got his FIRST audio commentary in which to expound on the joys of gold tending. He’s joined by Mr. Ayromlooi who so enjoyed himself that he hauled off and recorded a SECOND track with cinematographer David Daniel! Ta-ta-ta-TWO commentaries for LEPRECHAUN 6!?! Ye gods! Curiously, neither track mentions the rather nifty "Origin of Leprechaun" animation that’s slathered with rich Lord of the Rings earnestness.
No breasts. 10 corpses. Amateur dentistry. Ol’ rip the beating heart from the chest gag. Flamethrowing. Gratuitous prosperity montage. Bike-by-batting. Ledge dangling. Mid-inferno Mr. Davis apes the Wicked Witch of the West: "I’M M-E-L-T-I-N-G!!!"
